The business was founded by Taj Muhammad at Gerlate Bazaar Balakot in 1950. He started with manufacturing and selling gold and silver jewelry. Gradually he progressed and became a jeweler of repute in Kaghan valley. He introduced new designs in gold and silver ornaments in the area. The younger son Zafar Iqbal joined his father to help him in the business. They both gained the confidence of their customers and the people of the area by their hard work, use of good quality gold and silver and their un-matching workmanship. All this helped the business prosper and made them capable to open another shop at Shalam market Balakot to be run by Fida Muhammad along with his brother Zafar Iqbal in 1985, with name of Zafar Jewellers. Both of the brothers worked hard under the supervision of their father, the founder of the business. They introduced the stylish jewelry with improved fashion and design and have been able to capture major part of the market of the area. All their efforts regulated in future prosperity and progress of the business.
In 1990 Fida Muhammad Saraf set another mile stone that was the establishment of a new shop at Kaghan Road Balakot and there was an immense business and became very well known in the gold market.

In the year 1997, after achieving a new milestone in the business they have been able to open a new shop at Kashmiri Bazaar Mansehra, a hub of business activities. Besides carrying out the routine jewelry business in the new shop they introduced computer designing for the first time in Mansehrta. They also started casting of jewelry. They introduced new and improved designs matching the latest fashion in manufacturing of jewelry. They made ornaments studded with pearl, real stone in multi colors. In a short span of time they became one of the few top jewelers of the area.
The reputation and fame they earned made them able to gain the confidence of the institution.
Zafar Iqbal
During the earth quack 2005, their Balakot’s shops were collapsed, they suffered a great deal of loss to their assets. Those were the days of their distress, and facing all those hardships they still managed to shift their business to Mansehra. As Balakot was declared a Red Zone by the Government and Agencies. They opened a new shop at Mansehra, Mr. Zafar Iqbal was handed over the responsibility of this shop which was known as M. Zafar Saraf.
Amir Shahzad
They also established a new shop at Khalla Bazaar Mansehra with the name of Amir Jewellers in the year 2012. This was another achievement of their progress and popularity, Mr. Amir Shahzad was given the charge of that shop.
